Default Help!! emissions problem

Well I have been having problems with inspection, I am not able to pass the emissions test. I have changed my oil, put a new fuel filter on, cleaned up the spark plugs and have also put a SMS catalytic convertor on my DC jdm header and T1R exhaust, that was running a test pipe before. The mods on my ITR are; Jdm Dc header, T1R exhaust, Skunk2 Cam gears(not tuned), aem fuel rail and intake. The hydrocarbns were at an astounding 728 and the co% were 9.13 . That is just two outrragous numbers and I have no idea why?!? I do have the CEL on, which is code number 54 which is CKF Sensor defective circuit. I dont see how this is because I have put a new one on recently and I even tried the little trick that you can do to make it think is works and I still have a CEL. Could it be my distributor? I just dont know what else could make me run soo rich. I am going to get my car tuned a soon as the new Neptune hardware is releaased but until then I needdd to pass emissions. Anyone know what could it be? Hopefully someone can chime in and help me out with this one. Thanks a lot!

what style header is it. i think if its 4-1 it wont pass. i tried to pass smog with a jdm oem 4-1 header and failed. i used my friends 4-2-1 header and passed on that try.

dunno how many points but the techs at the shop said the exhaust flow is too high. i dunno, californias smog laws are gay. also, i had to use the stock piping, i was using 2.5" and swithed it out with the oem one.

disconnect your negative battery terminal for about a minute. sometimes that resets the CEL. it worked for me in an em2 civic before.

damn, those numbers are really high. i'm a smog tech in nevada and our limit on 81 and newer vehicles is 220 HC and 1.20% CO. simply put you are running overly rich at idle (high CO indicates that) causing you to have a misfire and spit unburnt fuel out the exhaust (HC indicate that.) see if you can borrow a wideband o2 sensor and see what your a/f at idle is. code 54 might put it in a limp mode of sorts. hope this info helps.

im running a 4-1 2.5" header with a 2.5" carsound cat/ spoon n1 catback and my car passes smog at near 0 on both HC and monoxide so i dont think either of those is your issue

im also running a chipped p28 and pass no problem what so ever......... however i do have a vafc and have tuned it so i bet your problem is in the fuel at idle........ mine is idling in the 15:1 area

The cat is brand new.

No i do not.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by cjames235 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">im running a 4-1 2.5" header with a 2.5" carsound cat/ spoon n1 catback and my car passes smog at near 0 on both HC and monoxide so i dont think either of those is your issue

I believe its that too but i dont know how it could be like that though, I have done nothing with the fuel, I use ti have a vafc but got rid of it a year ago. Im thinking that the CEL code 54 might have put my car in "limp mode" but my car still can be ran through vtec with no problems, so i dont know. Will a GSR distributor work on my ITR or will the timing be different? thanks

like i said before, get a wideband on that bitch!!!! and then tune your idle accordingly.

the fact of the matter is, according to your numbers, is TOO MUCH FUEL AT IDLE!!
