overheating
thats almost 100% for sure a head gasket. check and see if your coolant level is low, change your oil and see if it looks milky, check for possible oil in your coolant resevoir, etc. If you want to start with the easy stuff make sure you have plenty of coolant in your car and change the thermostat. That stuff costs $15. The headgasket will cost a lot more. Good luck.
for your fan- remove the connector on your fan switch and jump the connector if the fan goes on, the circuit is good but the switch might be bad
when its over heating the fan should be going on
to test the headgasket - warm up your car real good. turn it off. remove one spark plug and put a mirror over it.if it fogs up its a headgasket problem. test all cylinder one at a time. good luck
