Default starting fluid

hey,
as everyone here knows my car doesnt start and im sure u all are tired of hearing about it. well i went to autozone bought some pyroil starting fluid and had my dad spray it while i had half throttle trying to start it. well it almost fired up it huffed and puffed and just about completely started then it went back to cranking. anyone have any ideas what it could be now? i have spark, im gonna check the timing but does anyone know how to check it if it wont start? and is there a way the dizzy could be warped but still fire but not allow the car to crank?

_thanks

What do you mean the dizzy could be warped? Sounds like you aren't getting fuel... check the main relay. What else have you done to the car?

check the thermostat ground, cuz that was my problem..make sure u hear the fuel pump prime if it doesnt then its a fuel problem. Check the main relay as well, you can resolder it if something is wrong with the relay, once u get fuel and spark then timing is your problem but dont jump the gun. Start with simple things and go from there

also if it almost started with the starting fluid that must mean your timing is pretty good, but weirder things have happen

Sounds like you have no fuel. Get your fuel pressure checked. Check for proper voltage at the fuel pump connector. If nothing there, check voltage out of the main relay to the fuel pump. Also, check to see if you have the your spark plug cables in the correct firing order on the cap. Pull the cap and also check to see if your rotor is in its place (I've seen them fall off and a sparkstill fires normally)try these and we can go from there.

testing with a known good dizzy is cheap and easy (as long as you have friends with ef's). but if it fired on the starting fluid, you have spark.

like everyone is saying, it is probably a fuel issue.

that means-

bad gas. did the car sit for a while?

or

fuel pump issue. get new crush washers for the next two steps. disconnect the fuel line going into the filter. put it in a jug. crank car. if fuel squirts out, pump is good.

fuel filter. disconnect from rail. repeat above, if fuel comes out, filter is good. wouldn't hurt to replace the filter now that you've taken it apart and you need new crush washers anyway.

come back with results, there are lots of things that can cause issues upstream of the filter.

Well, you got no spark because you did not have the outer electrode grounded to the block. try the test again and set the spark plug touching the valve cover on an unpainted surface. It should spark then. If no spark, it's either your coil or ignitor. They both go bad all of the time on hondas. Why replace te entire distributor. You need to have around 12 volts at the fuel pump connector for the 2 pins that provide voltage from the relay, not the sending unit wire.

umm dude I checked out your firing order and its not 4-3-2-1. Its 1-3-4-2. might wanna check how you have the wires hooked up to the cap. That could be your problem right there. Hope that helps...
