if tranny is legit?
i was wondering if there is a way to check if a transmission is legit, or it doesn't matter?
my friend say there should be a vin number on it since it's a 99 gsr tranny, but i dont see any. the only thing i found is the serial number which goes -(s80 3099304), i tried to google and see if there is a way to find if the tranny is legit, but all i see is for engine and only askin for VIN. can someone help please

just get a bill of sale made and make the seller sign it. so if you get pulled over and the cops ask for anything you can show them that and that way your safe from any blame.
Its probably not a 96+ transmission. Sounds like a 94-95 and the guy is trying to claim it as being newer then it is. Possibly the case was switched, but then he needs to say "rebuilt, has XX gears and XX case".
