Do I need shock boots on koni yellows?
I'm installing my koni yellows tomorrow and need to know if I really need shock boots. I don't wanna ruin them and drive in snow/rain/salty roads ect. If I do need them do I just zip tie them on the bump stop and the upper section of the shock body?? Will boots void the warrenty? Anyone got pics of the boots installed with out the springs? Also is there anything else I should replace while I got all 4 shocks off the car??
You don't specifically have to have them however any protection that you give them may help keep road crud away from the piston rods and could theoretically lengthen the seal life potential. Most cars using coil-over kits run without dust covers or boots (including my own cars for many years) will liitle to no trouble. Basically I would say that if you can run them reasonably easily with no interference issues, then they can't hurt but from my personal experience I wouldn't (and haven't) tripped over myself to make some work if there isn;t enough room.
Presence or lack there of a dust boot will not on it's own void your warranty.
