Default J&S Ultra v.1 guestions

I have been reading on the unit but due to the "flawlessly" working search I was left with hunger for knowledge.I have couple of questions:

1. Does it detect det. in vaccuum and does the unit retard timing when in vaccuum( ex. will it eliminate if it occurs at -10 vaccuum) or it just works in open loop?
2. Do you need to buy new knock sensor or the stock one will do the job.
3. How does one proceeds with tunning it? Will it show you if you need to increase the retard rate per boost?

Thanx in advance!!!

P.S. What is a good way to eliminate tip-in in 10 vaccuum? Will J&S do it succesfully? Or how about Zipp's EBL? Which one?

*i think it starts working at 10" of vacuum, then on up to 0 and into boost

2. Do you need to buy new knock sensor or the stock one will do the job.

* the stock one works well, but i am curious if they modified their code to tailor it to the stock honda knock sensor, since it likely has different properties than their knock sensor (which might be a GM part?)

3. How does one proceeds with tunning it? Will it show you if you need to increase the retard rate per boost?

* umm. you're going to have to play with it. if you have the sensitivity set right, it will show you detonation and then u can tweak your settings. its a pretty sensitive device, so it takes a while to get the feel for tuning it. i am happy with it.

* for a JRSC, definitely relocate the MAP sensor to see whats going on in the plenum betwen the SC and the engine. it makes a nice smooth transition to boost.

You can run stock timing and eliminate tip-in with the J&S Ultra v.2. The stock timing is possible with any J&S Ultra, but the MAP sensor relocation is something that can only be done with the v.2. If you don't have a v.2, you can use a v.1 and a missing link check valve, but the v.2 is definitely the more elegant way to go.
