How much Nitrous can be run on a b16a?
I'm going to put a b16a SiR 1 into a civic, eventually I'm going to upgrade the valve train, cams, rods, pistons, etc. But until then I think I'll run nitrous (not NOS, since NOS is a brand) for all the GT Stangs out there
Anyone running Nitrous on their b16a? If so, what size shot? What upgrades did you have to do, and what brand are you using? Pics?
Thanks a million,
Chris

Don't run more than a 75 shot. I should know that by now. My friend tried to spay his b16a with a 100 shot but it blew in a matter of minutes. He sprayed it with a 50 shot and it got him 13.2 with slicks. Then he spayed it with 75 and it got him 12.8's. Dom was there he can tell you. And all this was in a 89 civic si with full interior.
was that on street tires? thats a badass time.... if your gonna run 75shot an upgraded fuel system is a must, stock pump's for aprox 100hp while your gonna be pushing like 220+. colder plugs and ignition retard is also on the list of things to do. man, 12.8's w/a b16a in an si....
you don't need nos to beat a GT.. GT's pull 15's stock.. get a b16 with a few upgrades and you'll take them out.. for the faster ones(13 sec), just mildly build up the b16 motor and you can take them out.. i can pull 13's on street tires all motor.. i'm not saying that nitrous isn't fun.. i'm shooting it too.. but you know where i'm coming from.. i pull mid 12's with street tires, no traction, 2.49 60ft times..
yuck..
yuck..
Thanks for all the comments and info.
b16_ef, what mods do you have done to your b16a? Is your car gutted or full interior? I'm going to be some what tight after the swap, I'm not even going to put on a bigger exhaust for awhile (I know, the -p- shooter is terrible.) When I do the swap I'm going to put on a lightened flywheel, clutch, timing belt, water pump and that is about it, possibly a header while I'm in there if money allows. I was just thinking that Nitrous would be the cheapest, easiest way to go fairly fast until I get the money to do what I want. Eventually I'll upgrade to crower cams, springs, ti retainers, stainles steel valves, eagel rods, je or arias pistons, sleeve cylinders and turbo pushing 12 psi or so. That is if all goes well within the year, until then I'm broke
Thanks again for the info and comments, all is appreciated.

I had a 75 shot of zex on my b16 crx with just intake and bfg drag radial. Was pretty quick. Took the head off it later and the pistons and everything else looked mint. I would definatly do a 75 shot with zex again. Just do the whole heat range plug thing and set the timing back like 4 degree's.

Uh... My Mustang GT went 14.2 stock, guys. And it's a tired old 1986 with only exhaust mods.
My civic with B16a, exhaust, cams, itr manifold, TUNED on the dyno to the tune of 151 at the wheels only went 14.80.
I've seen a stock B16a in a HEAVY 95 EX civic with a 75 shot of Zex go 13.2 on Stock 99 Si Michelins. POS tires.
B16a's LOVE NOS, but be careful, the valves are the first things to go. Let the engine COOL OFF between shots, and don't spray for more than a 1/4 mile run, or 12-14 seconds.

I run an 80 shot direct port and I haven't had a problem. On the street it spins the wheels all the way till 3rd. You got to love NOS no way I'm getting rid of my nitrous kit..

yea i sure GTs run sub 15sec qtr....
i just checked Motor Trend and they says 2002 GTs run 14 flat...i have heard that the mags are not always accurate...but i believe its very safe to say the run low 14 if not into the high 13s...my CRX should give them a hard time tho
