Thats why I like OBD-1

Why didnt you just use the harness fromt he DX? It might have worked.

ohhh ok.

Well, if I was stoned I could prolyl tell you what to do but Im sober

Best thing I can come up with is that the engine harness has the tach lead but the DX harnes doesnt. and if your VSS isnt working, id first check to see if the terminals are corroeded. If they are, get some CLR. if not, there is a HT sponsor that makes new harnesses.

no vss=no vtec

If you want it to work then you need the 99-00 dash harness to mate w/99-00 engine harness. Not sure if it has been done before, but just use your dx engine harness.

The VSS output feeds directly to the Speedo in the cluster but not before going through connector C131 pin 18 or 19, depending on model. C131 is the intermediate connector between the engine harness and ECU connector. I believe it's also green....it's part of the actual engine harness.

Find C131. It's the third connector on the engine harness that isn't actually an ECU connector...it's an intermediate connector...I believe bright green in color.

Look for pin 18 or 19 - is there a wire in either of them? And if there is a wire in one of those spots, is there a corresponding wire in the mating connector to continue the electrical path?

If you didn't mix OBD2a and b harnesses, you wouldn't have this problem. That's why I'm asking you to check that connector because it's that connector that is mainly teh reason you don't use harnesses from one generation with the other. Sure, things might plug in...but do the wires actually match up from one side of teh connector to the other??

When I did the swap I used the same harnesses from my stock 96 Civic HX. Then I did a ob2 to 0bd1 jumper harness. Everthing worked fine. Do think the speedo would go bad?

The VSS is a pretty important important input - have you ever gotten a code for it? If you haven't, then start digging around in the wiring.

Why didn't you just use the OBD2A EX harness? It works just fine.

Do you think it could be the half shafts from the speedo not working? Or would it be in the harness? When the car is on a lift or jack stands the speedo works. When the car is on the ground the speedo dose not work. But the tach works fine. Anyone know what hell is going on with my Civic?
