90 Accord LX starts for a second, won't idle, and dies.
Is it my Throttle Position Sensor TPS? Checked and getting spark and fuel. Circuit works, engine check light goes on, off in 2 sec, and relay clicks. Battery turns engine over, engine kicks in for a second and there's no idling, so it immediately dies.
It is the 4 cyl SOHC 16 valve F22 engine, in the 1990 Accord LX.
Thanks for all help.

No. When I give a lot of gas as the starter turns, the engine starts while turning fast, but immediately dies. It won't idle. I can hear it start, as opposed to engine turning over but not catching. Troubleshooting indicates that this is a symptom of the TPS not functioning. As mentioned, I get spark and fuel. The relay switch clicks on. And will only click off when I turn off the ignition switch. Does this sound like the TPS is bad.
I am about to try a replacement TPS. If you had the same symptoms and you found a cure by replacing the TPS, I would like to hear your story.
The car is a 1990, first year of the 4th generation Accord. Has auto trans.

HONCORD,
What was the correct repair to your GF's Honda? Despite the difference in model year which are different generation chassis and engine, the Throttle Position Sensor should work the same.

$300lude,
I can not send a private message yet. I will post the results of my diagnosis. I have not had much time to tackle the repairs. I wish Honda had designed a replaceable TPSensor.

does it die as soon as you release the key ?? try holding the key slight off the start position see if it will keep it running........if so you got issues with the electr part of ign switch
Thanks. I will try that. I read about that ignition switch problem, and it said it also happens along with the instrument panel going out/dark.
My panel stays on. So I did not suspect that. But I will try it. Kind of a tricky thing to turn the key to slightly off "start".

Accord-pro,
You are DA Man !!!
... You are SO Right. That was it. I was able to get the engine started and running, if I hold the key off-start. Soon as I let the key go, it moves to the next "set" position and the engine dies. I can repeat the process and the engine runs. So now it is off to get the replacement ignition switch (the electrical part.
What is the best source for this part? What are the tricks to make this repair easier?
Thanks,
Mangotreemechanic
P.S. to $300lude,
Accord-pro gave me the right tip. Hope it works for you too.
