What's wrong with my new thermostat?
I just put a Zc in my car. I noticed that the engine was running way too cool, so I replaced the thermostat (The old one WAS stuck open). So I drive it around for a while and everything seems fine and dandy, the temp gauge was right where it was for my cx motor. So I was about to get home from the 15 min drive, but then the temp. gauge shot way up to 3/4. So I immmediatly turned off the motor, and pulled over. I started it up and everything was good again. Then I got home and let it sit for about a half-hour before I drove it again. So on the second drive it did it again after about 15 mins, so I turned it off, started it again, and it cooled down. What the heck is goin on???
So it hasn't jumped up really high anymore, but the upper radiator hose is EXTREMELY hot, and the lower is only warm. I replaced the fan switch with the thermostat, and the fan hasn't been turning on. I know the fan works casue I juped the plug and it turned on. Anyone got any input???

Bingo, it is very likely you have a air bubble or two kicking around.

Could be the wrong temperature then, get an OE one.

Yep. Definatly bleed the system before you do anything else.

damn bro i had the same crappy *** heating problem i replaced everything on it as u can think of and still would over heat well i just said expletive it and took out the thermostat out now my car runs good and it never over heats even during the hottest day. 100% coolent. yeah i know people say who its not good to run without thermostat because it could send a code to your ecu an open loop which things could suffer but hey i don't have any problems anymore, the only thing is that i have to let it warm up a little longer thats all but no big deal and still runs well.

hey check your fan relay switch connector cap. i had a problem similar to yours and i checked and chaged everything to find out it was the connector cap on the fan realy switch. it had a bad connection. i was told to apply some apoxy on the cap and sitck it back on, should work. good luck. peace

I took out the thermostat today, and i tested it in hot water and it opens up. I also flushed it when i took out the thrmostat. And let it run with the cap off until all the bubbles came out. But the head still gets really hot, and the intake gets kinda hot also. and the hose coming out of the back of the head seems to be really hot.

More importantly; you know its for the right temperature range.
