Default Master Cylinder Question

I purchased my newly used clutch master cylinder and am in the process of installation. I need to know if I need to have this dust boot on the new one. I can't seem to get the clutch pedal adapter thing off.

Also do I need to add any grease to the new one?

a little bit of grease would be nice yes to keep it from wearing out and have it move smoothly..

the boot is recommended but not needed
