Default who wants a brake pressure bleeder?

i am just wondering if anyone wants to buy a brake pressure bleeder. i am currently making one for myself, and i think i bought way too many hose fittings that i actually have enough to make another. if anyone is interested, i'll make one for you for the cost of all parts plus shipping. it should be about $35-40 shipped and that includes the air pressure gauge on the tank. the unit will be tested. or i can sell off just the hose fittings, washers, and the remaining of the DIY rubber gasket to anyone that is interested.

parts i still have: (#/# pc) = (#part left over/#parts in original packaging pc)

Thats cool man. When you do it you should make a walkthrough and post it up.

That would be informative.

sure thing.. i will make a walk through. since i do not have the proper tools with me at the moment, i will try to explain everything with the assembled piece. come back and check with updates

this is the finished product

1:

go buy a 4" square metal plate or round metal plate. i used the one for switch boxes without any precut grooves for holes so that it will sit flush with the brake reservior. they are less than a dollar at OSH.
get some rubber gasket sheets. i got 12" x 12" for 4 dollars.
drill a hole in the middle that will fit your hose fitting. put the plate on top of your brake reservior with the hole in the middle and mark 4 points to be drilled on the outside of the brake reservior. drill those points. then make a rubber gasket that is identical in dimension to the plate and holes you just drilled.

get the correct hose fitting size. i got the one with 1/4"ID 3/8"OD because these fit the 1/2 gal garden rose pump sprayer that you can find at ACE, OSH, or HD. you can use the 3/8"ID 1/2"OD hose fittings if you have a larger sprayer at home. (This also works well if you plan on making a remote reservior to place your fluid, so you dont have to ruin a perfectly good larger sized sprayer. This is what my original idea was because i have a 2gal sprayer that i plan on use for both autoX and bleeding, but i couldnt find a big enough container to act as a reservior. maybe you can.) get telfon tape, compression nut that fits the hose fitting you just bought, correct sized washer ( preferred sealing bonded washers).
put the hose fitting though the hole and secure with a compression nut on the other end. remember to use a washer on the rubber gasket side so it will push down on the gasket and create a good seal. if the hole is a tight fit, you probably do not need to use washers on the top side. claulk the gaps and move on. remember to telfon tape all your threads.

get about 4 ft of clear vinyl tubing, hose clamps and pump sprayer.

put the hose on the fitting that is now on top of the plate and clamp it down. the other end of the tube will go to the pump sprayer. hose clamp that side too.

pump sprayer modification:

(this mod is not necessary, but it is preferred so you maintain a 7-10psi in the tank. anything higher can cause damage to your brake system. ( i am not too sure on those numbers, but i remember reading somewhere on HT the recommended working pressure, so give it a search)
get a pressure gauge. the one i found was made for a garden hose, so i had to buy a seperate compression nut for it. use washers to secure along with rubber gaskets. drill a hole on a fairly flat surface on the tank and install the gauge in there. the order from outside the tank to the inside with be gauge-washer-rubber gasket-tank wall-rubber gasket-washer-compression nut. you can rub some silicon clauk on places you feel that might have leaks.

here are pic to compare the different hose fittings i have remaining and how they will be installed on the plate compared to the finished product.

finally, get some J-bolts that will fit the 4holes you have drilled earlier, 2 one foot long chains, 4 winged nuts, and 4 washers for the bolts. make sure the J bolt goes through the rings in your chain. it was hard finding nice chains at HD and i ended up having to enlarge some of the rings with a vise and a plier.

i have tested my final piece on a glass jar and it holds pressure wonderfully. i don't know how much pressure because i have yet to install the gauge on my tank.
