My 97 LS Dyno Numbers
My friends and I always thought this was a freak motor. Built on Wensday if you will.
I went to the Lansdale meet in Pa on April 23rd and paid the 40 Bucks for the special they were having for 3 pulls. I was happy just to see what a basically stock LS could do.
The guy approached me and said "Hey man wanna dyno it?" I said sure and threw him my keys. While I was inside signing a waiver if my **** broke its my fault
. I walked outside to see my car coming down the ramp and about 30 people behind it. I started to get nervous. I don't know why but I did. I thought people would laugh. "Look at that POS" but they didn't
The team at RT tuning strapped it down on the dyno jet and did a small run to seat it and make it taut on the dyno.
After the three runs I got my dyno sheet and this is as follows

I peaked at 131.2 HP and 121.3 lbft. Which was nuts for a LS with:
Ebay SRI..DC 4-1..Magnaflow hi flow cat...Yonaka 2.25 Catback...MSD igniton bits...and 112K miles after a 3hour drive to the meet. I was impressed Considering these were rated at 142 Crank in 97.
If you do some math with Driveterain loss its as follows. 142 Rated Crank =16 % Loss(22.7hp)=119 Whp
131whp=16%loss (20.96)= Crank HP of 152 !!!!!

This doesn't mean you LS has the same. I do routine maintence on this car religously and care for it. Every motor is different. This is strong for a 9 Year old car

It's going to get boosted When I return from basic over the winter. I has a spare motor Im going to build (or try to, never built a motor before) Incase anything happens
