radio ON w/ no keys
S I M P L E........just wire up @ the radio... the "ACC" power wire onto the "battery (12v constant)" power wire. In other words....DO NOT USE THE "ACC" WIRE FROM THE CAR!!! If I'm not mistaken the ACC is red and the battery is yellow. DON'T FORGET TO TURN YOUR RADIO OFF OR YOU'LL END UP WITH A DEAD BATTERY.

That wire is 12V ACC which means it only comes on when you turn your key.

isnt ACC stand for accessory and is only on when the key is on the first click??/
you could set up a relay if you wanted to or just tap the constant 12v that powers things like the memory for station presets or clock
i have done this before, but i dont know if it is safe so, do so at your own risk

schlit,
It does work...if you combine the red and yellow wire of the radio and wire them to the 12v battery power wire of the car harness. This will enable you to listen to your stereo without the key in the ignition.

I did that without splicing the 1st wire.
Just get a jump box (portable car jump starter)
Get a male to male cigarette plug and plug the jump box to the car.
And then you have radio with no keys.

listen to NVTurbo, my civic is set up so I can do that same exact thing. DO what he said, combine the 2 wires and battery and that's it. also, like he said, turn your radio off before you leave your car so you would kill your battery, if you leave it on for too long, lol.
MooGoCow3,
There is no need to go out and buy a portable battery starter in order to do this safely. Save that money for other things...such as oil changes and miscellaneous parts.
y2kferari,
I actually did this wiring by mistake at one time....and I realized that my radio didn't shut off when I took out the key. Sometimes, little mistakes can actually help you out later on.

yeah, my cd player was shorting out for some reason and I NEED my music so I just reconfigured the wires as so and no problems since. It's actually funny, accidental I geuss would be the discription. I was at a show one time and had my subs hitting and all, and a guy jumped in and tried to ride off with my car, assuming the keys were in the ignition. Well, he and his idea got kicked the * out real quick. save me a few times I would say, lol. good luck
1-radioshack #275-625 ($3.79) or any other SPDT switch capable of holding 3amps @ 12V.
switch wired like this
constant power - radio ACC input - normal ACC power.
This will make it so when the switch is in one position and it will function normally so you don't accidently leave your radio on at night.
Flip the switch and it will be on all the time.
