Default Component speakers up front

Has anyone here installed a new set of component speakers in the front of an integra? Do you have any recommendations on where to leave the crossover? Did the tweeters fit in flush? Did you have to do much fabrication yourself?

Also, what components would you recommend? I just got an Alpine 9857 headunit installed.

Thanks

BTW, 99 GSR

my 97 gs came stock with separates up front. you could look for doors that come with the tweeter holes already there

example (note you do not have to buy JDM ITR doors to have tweeters, just using as an example)

Yeah i've got tweeters that came stock. I've just been told some aftermarket tweeters don't fit in the stock holes without some fabrication and altering.

sorry about that

i think the stock tweeter size minus mounting hardware is 1.25. i am looking to confirm this, so don't hold me to it until i can do so.

i installed infinity kappa components (60.7cs). for the mid you have to use the small backing/spacer to mount it cleanly. it's depth is 1 7/8" i believe. as for the tweeter, my car is a gs-r so it had the tweeter holes. i just pressure fitted the tweeter in the stock location. it fits pretty snug

Was I the only one without tweeters then ??

There shouldn't be much to fitting in the comp set,
take the doorpanels off if you haven't already and start laying stuff out.

you can put the crossover inside the door. I have alpine type r componets, and i dont remember exactly were i put them, but i seem to remember a small black like compartment on the inside of the pannel, i think it was sum kind of support..... But it fit right inside of it.

Cool. I've taken the door panel off but never messed around with a crossover. With my aftermarket headunit, how are the stock tweeters/mids being powered? Is there a crappy stock crossover in there?

From my minimal knowledge, when you get an aftermarket component system does it run like this...you run the wire from the headunit that goes to the front left, for instance, to the crossover first, then it sends out two signals, one signal for the mid and one for the tweeter. Is this right?

I got MB Quart Components all the way around in my car, the tweeters fit find in the factory location and i just left the crossovers in the bottom of the door. Powered them with an Apine V12 4ch

I put Alpine Type S crossovers in the front of my 93 LS. They're being powered by a V12 alpine amp. Sounds real nice. Especially with the Alpine coaxles in the back and the alpine head unit.

I could take more pics if needed...

I instaled a set of pioneer components in my GS last week.

Had to mod the woofer part by cutting the plastic backing off with a dremal b/c the new speakers were much bigger: so they sit alot deeper. (you could have also used a MDF spacer i guess, but then the speaker might hit the cover when it bumps)

Tweeters fit fine in stock location, and i just put the crossovers inside the door with some zipties/glue and some padding- there not going anywhere

powered em with a pioneer 600w 4 channel amp

They sound much better then the stock ones, I never relized how much the stock componets suck until now

Cool. I think I might go without an amp for the speakers. I've got a good alpine head unit so i'm hoping it will have enough juice to power them. I'm not looking to play my music crazy loud. I am installing a amp/sub for the system as well
