right now i have a d16y7 and i want to get a full performance exhaust system i was thinking like 2.5in piping cause i am going to turbo my car later probably like 6-8months from when i get my exhaust, so i want my exhaust to be big enough for a turbo yet i dont want it to be so i lose so much power. i was thinking of the hks high power exhaust system. im really new to this so sorry for asking stupid questions. thanks for any advice or help.

 

I would get a pipe custom made, it will be cheaper than a brand name, sound differrent than the mainstream and will have unninterrupted flow all throughout, exactly what turbo needs. Oh , dont get a muffler, a nice tip will sound awesome

It's only six months, just slap a muffler on it and be done. Save your money for the turbo setup/upgrades. For turbo, at least a 2.5" is acceptable. I'd go with 3" but that's just me.

HKS would be a waste of money since you're prolly end up selling it anyways. And not to its full price either.

 

so piping should be 2.5'' to 3'' lots of people i know recomend 3'' and for now (with no turbo) people say 2''to 2.25'' piping would be good. how does the air work for that though like i hear if its to big u will actually lose power from the back pressure??

 

i would wait till turbo was on and then change the piping... otherwise it will be louder and slower

2" is pretty good for n/a d16 but it's not worth putting it if you're turboing in 6 months...

 

the thing about exhaust is that backpressure is bad, it is very bad, except you actually need some, contrary to what people say. without it, you would be sucking raw fuel from the chamber during overlap. however, if you have too much, your engine will have to work harder to expell exhaust gasses

im thinking, whats wrong with keeping it stock till you turbo it? no reason to go out shelling out the green unless its burning a hold in your panties

 

i have 2.25" custom made ready for my all-motor setup. i'd say 2.5" or 3" for your turbo setup, but you should just wait till u turbo because if you get a big exhaust and drop that backpressure too much, you'll notice low-end will be weaker than people on bikes. and i mean pedaling.
