i have a 99 LS tranny with a LS/ vtec and i wanted to know what people thought of the set up and if i should go to a whole different trans or maybe just do a final drive from a GSR or an SI.

I kind of want to do the final drive but i don't know if it will fit in just right, i heard from another post that fifth gear is different too so let me know what you think.

just find a GSR or SI tranny

pulling the tranny apart and doing gear swaps is a big pain in the *** unless you plan to install a LSD at the same time.

 

i've put together plenty of 4.40 ls transmissions. if you use your stock ls diff, just get a b16 ring and either b16 or gsr or itr/ctr 4.40 countershaft. if you use the gsr diff, use the gsr/itr 4.40 ring. you don't have to mess with 5th gear or any other gears besides the ring and pinion/countershaft.
