Default difference between d16z6 and d16y8 pistons

what is the difference between a d16z6 and a d16y8 piston? they have a different part number for forged ones.

I have some 9.1 to 1 compression d16y8 srp pistons, what will the compression be If I put them in my d16z6?

it wont work, well, it would go together, but you will have like 4.0:1 compression cuz the piston to deck height is going to be -.5"...... that was easily figured out w/ the calculator by the way.

healtoe site says the compression height is about the same, the total height dosn't matter because the forged are shorter than stock pistons, I compared my old cp pistons for a z6 with the y8 srp pistons and from the wrist pin up it looks like the same height.

so it should be real close to 9to 1?

dude, did you think i was lying to you, go ahead and build it with those pistons, and watch it not run. point is any piston designed for the y8 isnt going to work in a z6. the compressed height stock is .5" shorter on the y8 pistons, dish/dome has nothing to do w/ it.

I took some pics comparing the z6 cp's and the y8 srp's dosn't look like .5" to me im confused.

on the last pic I put the wristpin thru both to see exactly the difference in height.

hmm, all i can tell you is that the pistons made for a y8 are not compatible for pistons built for a z6. there is no way at all it can work. pistons manufacturers dont change the size of the piston to determine CR they change the dome. i would say both sets of pistons you pictured are for the same motor.

according to the calculator though, that .5mm in piston to deck clearance = over 5.0 in compression, unless im pluggin something in wrong.
