shift linkage roll pin???
okay i can' tell but i think my tranny is leaking... i dont' have th3e car on the road yet but the little driving i do with it to and fromt he garage ( 20 ft) spawned some oil under the car... more on the tranny side..
when i put the roll pin in the shift linkage i hammered it in pretty beefy style ( it wasn't the exact honda one. i can't tell if the leak is comign from the tranny or the oil pan ... or maybe something else.POO

I used to think it was the rear main seal that was leaking on my '89 Civic Si.....I replaced it and she still leaked....Turns out it was the tranny bearing.....Good Luck

yeah tranny bearings leak... lol no.
its possibly where the 2 halves of the tranny meet, seen it many times.
solution. pull tranny, crack the case open. put new hondabond on it.
u shoud be able to find a leak, its not hard. wipe it all off with a rag then take it for a spin and look.

is it possible the leak could be comign from the shift linkage shaft ? while puttin gin the roll pin i might have hit it a little to hard.... i don't think its coming from the two halfs of the tranny

It is possible. I have a leak at the shifter rod seal. My leak is from a torn boot (that covers the roll pin) allowing dust & dirt into that seal causing wear...

I don't know. Getting the bitch-pin out is one of the hardest parts of working on a Honda (the other is the crank pulley)...
Once you remove the pin & the likage, the seal should be easy to pry out w/ a tiny flathead screwdriver or something. Don't quote me though, because I've never tried it...

I've replaced one, but only with the tranny apart-
You should be able to get it out w/ a plier, you'll need a socket or simlar to drive the new one in.
It's not just rubber, there's a metal ring inside - it's rather rigid.
Buy two in case you mess it up on the first run

The pin being as hard as it is to remove/install is $1.16 to buy from the dealership. I just ordered 5 because it is taking forever. Good luck with this. If you need a manual page for the seal let me know I can scan it for you out of Honda Service Manual.
