Anyone here unsing a 2 step?I got questions
Well i got the msd dig 6+ igniton as well as all the other goodies for it.
well im gona be using the 2 step this year to better my launches, deos anyone know of an easier way to provide 12volts to this to engage the 1st launch limiter and let go to engage the 2nd high speed limiter?
i just cant see holding a button for the launch and then lettign it go and then hitting the nitrous and then shifting and everything else
anyone know of anythnig easier. ?
or does everyone else just hold a button in and just drop it after they launch . ?

im not worried about nos or even any kind of controller. my questio is about the 2 step for launching purposes and make the launches more consistant. with or without the nos.
what you need is a button mounted in your shift *** or close to it. That is what most of us do theres no getting around it. Just hold the buttom hold the rev up until it pops like mad bitch... then just slip the clutch out of the hole and you should be okay.
do you just like have a momentary swx on a coil cord or something , like summit sells?
do you just drop the clutch and lt it go like a bat out of hell . or kinda ride it a bit?
im still trying to figure out how to launch agressively this year without breaking anything or killing another clutch .

i got a tilton carbon carbon which really kewl is that you can slip it out of the hole so therefore you gain the maximum traction less drive train issues.
But its just coil cord from nos kit cheap too. I mysefl am wanting a momentary push bottom drilled into the shift *** that would be kewl but i dont like the big holley ball ones. they are just pain to hold.

i am running a 2 step in my civic.......
i have it run to the clutch start switch....so when the clutch is all the way in its on the first rev
then when its out its on the second
i also have a toggle switch wired into it so when im road racing i can heeltoe downshift withouth haveing the 2 step on.....
the only thing i have thats different now is that i just totally disconnected the clutch start switch harness, so i start the car with or without the clutch all the way in it doesnt matter, but if your smart you can just get used to it and it will be ok, i know you could probably transfer another swith to the top of the clutch arm so you have 2 switches.......
cause originally i tried to purchase a cruis control cut switch that fits at the clutch adjust bolt inside the car, its this weird bolt thats at the top of the clutch arm, but the problem was it wasnt meant to run 12 v so i fried it when i first tested it, there goes $80
haha oh well

what happens when you shift though.
i fully depress the clutch when i shift. wont that trigger the 1st pill again .?

yes but for .5 seconds if you think about it cause once you let out the clutch even if its .5 inches just enough to switch over the clutch switch.(you can adjust it higher or lower on the switch where it bolts to the clutch arm, or whatever its called)then it goes back to the second pill
i have a small button mounted to the shifter, we made a little bracket to hold the button there.....
um as far as the coil wire, any coil wire should work.....
i used a Cellular Cig Lighter adapter wire. just cut off both ends and used it... looks really clean and works well......
if you want pics ill take some later...

I have my 2 step wired perfectly. I have it tied into the clutch switch and the horn button. My left hand never leaves the steering wheel. As long as the clutch is down and the horn button is pressed, I am on the low rpm setting. As soon as the clutch is released it breaks contact and it moves over to the high rpm. That way it gives me room for error if I forget to release the horn button. I just have to make sure the horn is released before I shift into 2nd gear. 2step rocks!
anyone got any pics of their set up?
i was thinking of setting it on one if the horn buttons, that way my hands are on the wheel when i launch . my car wants to pull too hard for me to not be able to hold onto the wheel tight.

oh and by the way if you drive your car on the street 2-step is the most intimidating thing you could ever hear....its fantastic for those stupid races where you really dont want to waste your gas
