OK...i have read many threads and pictures stating that the K&N RU-2820, with modification, can fit like a OEM replacement. Here is a couple of threads which shows this.

However, when i tried to do this tonite on my R, i ran into problems. Below is a few pictures of my stock filter taken apart.
If i am not mistaken, i am suppose to fit the K&N over the rather little inner edge of the elbow and tighten down with a hose clamp. However, there are 2 problem to this:
1. The outer diameter of the inner rim measures 84mm while the inner edge of the K&N measures 76mm. That is a difference of 8mm and there is no way in hell that i can fit that over.
2. Futher more, there is so little material that the K&N can go over meaning the hose clamp will be able to effectively tighten the fliter.
My only conclusion is that the sotck filter which i took apart was not OEM and there was subtle differences leading to my situation. Does anyone who has done this mod have a pic of their stock elbow? Any inputs?
Thanks.

you need to remove that glue thing. get flat driver, ones you crack it. it will fall apart. and you will have more space to put filter on. and yes use hose clamp. and yes. you will have to work on size. it will fit, since they are rubber. just work on it.
tip is put finger inside and pull/fit little by little.
i wish i can show you that pic. but no camera.
this pic is useless. but i just wanna post

There is a HUGE difference in size. I will try working on the glue and giving it another shot. But there is so little material where the filter can grab onto.

i said, once you remove that glue thing you have about 3cm. its enough to use clamp to hold the filter, i used after market filter like one that comes with AEM, INJEN. but ones again, it only fit with icebox.

The PN that drops right in is more $$$$. Lot's of integra owners go the hack route and buy the universal filter to save $$.
I'll pickup locally if you don't want it

You have to crack off that glue mesh thing to get it to look like this:

These are the directions I followed:
