hey i need some help, my frens jrsc is making a whinning noise at idle. it seems to go away (or i couldnt hear it atleast) while driving. he bought it used and when we installed it we couldnt get a intake manifold gasket so we got gasket paper and cut it out. A shop told us it could be that paper was too thin and leaking somewhere or a pulley or something that needs to be replaced. does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

ps. he has a btc that we haven't tuned yet, we had it set in the middle

 

accessory belts can whine....check those

 

i know it usually whines like that when you hit the gas.

 

It's probably those damn pulleys...if it's a GSR, I'd bet on it.

But, go to the FI Hostboard for supercharger questions...those guys know their SC stuff.

It's probably the bearing in the pulley that tightens up the belt running to the charger. Or you've overtightened the belt and the alternator bearing is going out. My bet would be on the alternator bearing going out. I had that same problem. The only time you could hear it was when you were slowing down or at idle. Hope that helps
