Aboslutely not the first time I've seen that, nor will it be the last I'm sure.

Last fall at WGI, Lance's self destructed the same way halfway through one of his sessions. He borrowed mine to make sure that was the only issue. Before we put mine back on Dan dabbed a touch of loctite on the screw for kicks and peace of mind.

So lesson of the day is to periodically make sure the damned thing is in there tight?

*raises hand*

Exact same thing happened to me, but the car ran perfectly.

I don't know how, but it did.

In a fit of rage, a buddy of mine gently clamped down the distributor wrapped in shop rags in a bench vise and attacked the largely plastic rotor with vise grips and tin snips.

After thoroughly destroying the rotor, the seized screw becomes exposed and you can then grip the screw itself with vise grips to remove it.

Some have been brave enough to try an impact screwdriver on it - but I think this might damage/warp the shaft.

Remember just a dab of blue loctite is enough to keep it from backing out

There was a guy on here way back whose rotor screw came out and jammed the top end, his cambelt broke and it dropped the valves and caused a big mess.

I was having some misfiring issues and ordered a new cap and rotor from Len. These parts had maybe a hundred miles of use on them. Interestingly enough, my car still ran fine at higher RPM. It idled like **** however. Here's pictures of what happens what that retarded *** rotor screw works it's way out.

</TD></TR></TABLE>

Hmm maybe this is what's wrong with my R right now. I have replaced my plugs, wires and still I have a crappy idle. Only in low Rpms it does have a light shutter (as if I have a second vtec) and then in higher RPMs things are fine. I took the distributor off but I didn't see if the screw was loose. I did see a few scoring marks on the inside of the cap. I will have to take the distributor off all together today...
