Default Problem with my b16

So I ordered a b16 from hmotors (because all I hear about them is that they have the best honda motor company around blah blah). Well, I'm convinced that they are a load of crap. First off, the knock sensor was broken on my motor when I got it. But thats not why i'm mad.

I did a compression test on my motor today. Everything had good compression (between 125-140 lbs), BUT every time I run the car, the fourth cylinder plug is covered in oil. Just freaking soaked.

Not to mention that the car runs like **** with the p30 that they sent me (sounds like its missing badly, but its not). However, the car runs like a dream with a non-tuned p28 in there, except I think its leaning out a bit when it hits vtec.

Do any of you guys know how to solve my problems? I've tried everything, but i'm stumped.

you should do a leakdown test on it. also, on a p30, it checks for the knock sensor, and if you dont have one, then that could be why its not running well

There are seals under the valvecover that go around the spark plugs, sounds like the one on #4 needs to be replaced. That should probably stop the oil leak for ya.

ok about the broken sensor...hmotors usually fixes that on the spot. if you find a broken sensor then they replace it right away.

what side of the sparkplug is covered with oil? And you didn't do the compression test right I don't think, those numbers sound pretty low.

140psi is low. In fact, anything below 135psi is considered below minimum spec.

HMO is a great company.
I'mn pretty sure if you made them aware of the broken knock
sensor they would replace it immediately.

Remember you are buying a used engine. You can't hold them against a dry rotted seal.
These motors are prolly 10 years or older. Replace the seal and start dealing with the
maintence problems on your at least 6 year old motor.

Did you have any problems with your wiring harness? Mine seems to be backwards, it looks like the battery and what-not were opposite in the japanese cars..Any ideas?
