Default pinging with hondata stage 2

i have a hondata stage 2 w/o the boost option on my NA h22a4 in my prelude. the host ecu is a p28 so it has no knock sensor. my problem is that at low rpm's (under 3000) and under a high load (WOT) in a high gear (4th or 5th) my car has audable pinging, and this is on premium 93 octane gas. i thought i might have gotten some bad gas so i put some octane booster in ther but it didn't touch teh ping, so i had to resort to retarding the ignition till it stopped. anyway i have no ping now but i never did have it when i was running the h23 p14 ecu on the engine. whats the deal, i know that hondas have set fuel and ignition maps at WOT and that i do not have the use of my knock sensor on this new ecu, is it that my ecu cannot pickup the knock and correct for it? is that what my old ecu was doing? or could it be the fact that i am still running the base program hondata put on there, it is for a h22a4 with 290cc injectors (stock), 11:1CR, type s throttle body, type s cams, and a DC header. i have none of these. sorry for the winded post but any help would be appreciated.

If that is the "base" program that Hondata gave you.....THAT is the problem. I mapped out a new program from scratch, cause that one is WAAAY off....

Give me an e-mail, and I'll see if I can dig it up for you....cheap cheap

"Doctor, it hurts when I bent my arm like this."
"Don't bend your arm like that."

When you go WOT at low RPM, the computer has to dump in lots of fuel and pull ignition timing WAY back in order to attempt to prevent detonation due to the high combustion pressures. If you need to accelerate, just downshift first. But you're also right in that it's really not supposed to ping even when you do that. Time to get some dyno tuning!
