Default Having trouble shifting.

Im having trouble shifting in to reverse and 1st every morning. I have to force it in to gear. I went to a mechanic and he said my pressure plate was weak. I never heard that b4...is that true that the pressure plate can be too weak. I just put in a new clutch not too long ago ACT Street disc. I bleed my clutch already. Any ideas? I dont have a dual bend shifter either...for my integra. Would that be a problem?

tighten all shift linkages, also, check to listen for a constrant grinding noise when the clutch isnt pressed in, could be your throw out bearing starting to go. it will sounds like a rattle in ur tranny case.

i just change the piloit and throw out bearing..cause it was out...but even with the new one it's still doin that. I'm actually starting to believe the mechanic...that it could be my pressure plate...

I had a similar problem on my 91 Civic. All I did was adjust the clutch cable, and it shifts perfect now

check ur tranny fluid as well, I just ran into a problem which I thought was my throw out bearing, so I replaced it (What a bitch that was) and it still made the noise, so I was like hmm, WTF. So I checked for tranny fluid and sure enough, bone dry. My shifts were also not there sometimes. Check the fluids man and maybe bleed the clutch. And if all else fails it could be the clutch. so just double check before you have to spend an *** load of money on a new clutch kit.

well what type of noise is it? Does it only occur when driving or does it occur when ideling, when the clutch is depressed, when you go over bumps? just a little more info and we might be able to have some sort of answer. I doubt it would be a motor mount issue though. Shift linkage not so much if you tightened all the bolts/connections.

gears or clutch......

again, need to know the type of noise and how consistant it is

Honestly there's actually no noise that i can hear coming from the clutch or the tranny. It's just that when i depress the clutch all the way..It would not disengage my clutch all the way because i have to force gears to go in sometimes....Sometimes it's butter. Usually right after exiting the freeway and a couple blocks after that..it's butter...but after like 5 miles after exiting the freeway and doing local...it starts acting up again...and when i'm in the garage in the mornin i have to force my car in to Reverse and when i finally do that..the car ACTUALLY JUMPS.....with the clutch FULLY depress.....DAMN this car is giving me so much head ache...thinking of quitin Honda...

1. does the the pedal feel spongy at all still after bleeding it. a leaking slave or master can give you the same effect but you will have a spongy pedal as well.
2. if not i would measure the pedal freeplay if you check this to the spec from honda it will tell you if the disk is work or the fingers of the pressure plate are worn. If you don't have a spongy pedal iam with your mecahnic about the pressure plate, I have seen this happen before..

i have the same problem right now. i was driving on the highway and it just started acting up. it became hard to shift into gears and would occasionaly grind at surtin rpm ranges. i replaced my slave cylinder and it helped out about 90% of the way but was still having trouble. i was told that my pressure plate was probably wearing out so now imma bout to change out my clutch and flywheel. needs to be dun anyways still stock
