What's this part called? Please help!
I'm looking for the metal peice that goes under the tail lights. It's where your key goes in the rear. Does anyone know what it's called? Thanks.
It's called the quarter panel extension, or filler, depending on the publication..
When the piece goes right across the back from quarter to quarter it's just called the end panel filler
Sometimes it's bolted on and sometimes it's welded on, depends on the car..
I THINK the ITR ones are bolted on.. But I haven't looked..

Yes... add finish panel to the list of names
Although the finish panel for most manufactures is plastic or reflective, not metal.

Well darn. I have the exploded drawing from the dealer that shows the part, but I lost page two that has the listing of the part numbers. Call your dealer and ask for part number 18 of section: BODY/AIR CONDITIONING, Page: OUTER PANEL (B 4920)
BTW, it is held on by 8 bolts.

Well almost, about a couple of thousand left to finish it ( about 50K into it already over the years, inc lots of spares..) It's been a two year restoration... I'm tired of working on it to tell you the truth...
It started out as my father in laws car, but he has unfortunatly passed on.. He was also a New Zealand boy... Born in Riverton ( Spelled right? ) He is/was one of the Patrick clan... Bruce... We still have a lot of family over there of course.. We will be coming to New Zealand to lay Bruce in his final resting place soon..
He would have just loved the way his Lotus turned out...

Thanks D. I guess I didn't check every single part of the catalog. Thanks everyone. I'm glad this thing isn't going to cost as much as I thought.

Lotus, Sorry about your father in law.
If you could, could you post up some pics of the Elan??
Must admit I have a bit of a soft spot for Lotus's, Chapmans design philosopy of "for speed add lightness" really appeals to me. One day I'm gonna build a super seven replica with F20C power. 500kg + 240hp = mmuuuuwwaahhhhhh
Where abouts in NZ is Riverton??
