Default how to remove panel that houses the climate control

hey guy,

i'm trying to remove the center panel on the console. tried to remove the hazard and demister button 1st as according to manual, but they cldnt come off. i didnt dare to apply too much force as i'm worried that i might break them

am i doing the right steps?
pls advice

use a flat head screw driver and gently pry from the bottom of the HAZ and rear defrost switch...they will come out. There is a pressure tab on each side of the switch...once they are out, you'll see two screws...don't forget to disconnect the cable on the passenger side that connects to the heater core.
