My car keeps dying because the stock alternator cant handle the draw from the sound system. The stock Crx alternator puts out around 60 amps the stock sound system uses around 10 amps. My sound system uses around 125. I need at the least a 175 amp alternator. I cant find ANYTHING for our cars. I only have two audiobahn 10's i dont think that is a huge sound system and i really dont want to remove it. The sound system used to work fine, the old alt. went bad and i replaced a stock one now every time i drive the car doesn't have enough power to restart the car. I've posted this several times ,come on someone has to know where i can get an aftermarket high output alternator. I need something that puts out more than 60 amps at idle.

the ones on e-bay put out 60 amps at idle, that's the same as stock

 

you may have to use two you ever been to a sound compitition alot of the cars there are running 2+ alternators

also are you using a capacitor on this system that helps save the bat from dying

 

yeah 3 batt cap capasitors, i dont want to have to run 2 alternators just get a high output one. 60 amps at idle sucks

 

call an alternator shop

wats the rest of the specs on the system?, this might help a little more in trouble shooting, cause i was running quite a bit in my car and it did fine until i sold everything.
2000watt crossfire amp running a diamond audio m6
1500 pioneer running diamond components, dvd, eq, monitors, and i was only using 1 capacitor
stock alternator cheap battery, it ran fine

hmm that sucks, mines seemed fine but i didnt use too long maybe a summer or so. well try those alternator links maybe it'll help you out but other than that i would say an alternator store/rebuilder. ive seen them do wonders

I will say this up front...they will not be cheap by any means!! These alts are built by people who understand the current needs of your system and are designed and proven in competition. They sometimes offer group buys and competitor programs. Local guys can be good choices as well,just do your reasearch. Will it fit like oem? Is there after sale support? Will it work for a daily driver (hi way speeds...or will my car sound like a swarm of angry hornets )? Give as much detail about your system and how you use it. There is a difference in a comp only 8kw system and a 1.2kw daily driven system.
