Default $1400 what to do with it

alrite well heres my situation, im 17 going to college in august of this year (not going to be able to bring my car w/ me for the first year) .. right now i have a black 95 ex coupe, i love it besides the fact it is an automatic.. so ive been saving my money and all together i have about $1400 right now .. so i was thinking what should i do with it and was looking to see if u guys would help ..

right now here are the options i am thinking of:
(one reason i would like to keep my car is because there is no rust, its in great shape, and only has 71k on it)

1. Convert my car to a manual, ive been researching and this would probably cost me about 1k since i couldnt do it alone
2. Sell my car and try to find oa standard that is in close to as good as condition as
mine and buy it
3. Up to you guys.. what are youre thoughts?

any help would be greatly appreciated

p.s. i love my wheels, lights, exhaust, and coilovers, so i would take all these off and want to put them back on a new car if i bought one, so pretty much i love my car the way it is i just wish it were a 5spd

im in your same shoes... i would really like a manual, but ive invested too much time into the car already to just sell it and buy another one.

im either going to manual swap, or just drive it as an auto.

its a great DD.

well i mean i just have new headlights from ebay, and taillights.. i have my stock ones that i can pop back on .. no biggie .. my exhaust is just custom bent 2.25" piping w/ a magnaflow muffler ..

and i should have mentioned .. since teh day i bought my car.. about a year ago, i have yet to find a manual 92-95 ex coupe with low milage, and any 92-95 civic for that matter in the condition of mine

i agree i like driving it, but every day i just think to myself, man .. if this was a stick it would be a blast

honestly, if you like your car convert it to manual. if you think you can get what you got into it by selling it you can put the 1400 w/ whatever you sell it for, buy a manual car, and most likely have money left to mod. in the end its up to you. i mean, truthfully if it were me i would keep saving money, drive the damn car, and in another year or so just pay cash for another one, manual of coarse, then sell your auto and buy a swap.

You could always give some to charity.

I'm generally known for getting free ****, but basically tranny and everything was free. 30 for linkage and stuff, I do my own ecu work, free clutch...somehow it adds up to around 150 I think.

wow wanna gather up some "free parts" for me and ill drop u like $500

umm .. yea i def cant get what i put into the car by selling it .. i'd take a pretty big hit .. i bought the car for 5k at the honda dealership my uncle works at .. they made $40 on teh sale .. it was retailing for 6700 .. so .. uhh yea i def can't get my money back

the real question would be .. can i get a nice manual civic ex/si w/ under 80k miles for 5k?

If you take your time and look in the right places, you can do a manual swap pretty easily for $2-300. It'll take you the better half of a day to install.

Take the rest of the money and put it in the bank. Get an interest only loan on a rental property and..... ahhh forget it. lol

can you? probably yes, but are they readily available? definately not.

plus, you have to go through the whole painful process of making sure everything is working and changing belts... all that good stuff.

im sure you could get a car like that for that much. given, it would probably be a salvage title. here is my advice to you. i am also 17 yrs. old so i know what's going on. i think you have more to worry about then your car. but, if you're set on putting it in your car, i would weigh the pros and cons.

convert to manual: hell yeah it is fun, when you are not in traffic. what will your commute be like? i hate driving in traffic and even if i am not driving in traffic and have just been driving all day, it can get boring. sometimes you might just want to relax so think of that.

selling it for a new car: i think you have something good with your car so i wouldn't try to sell it for something else. but, if you are looking for more power/fun then give it a shot. i think this is how you should do it though: search for the car you want first and if you can sell your car to make the price then do it. yea it will be hard but if it's what you want to do, then do it.

hondas are very reliable cars. just because a car has more than 80k miles on it means nothing. i've seen crx's and other old *** civics run strong at 200k+. think about the future and remember, that money will disappear quick if you have a girlfriend .

save more money, buy a JDM B16A swap from Hmotorsonline w/ a manual tranny...go to the junkyard and pull all the nesc parts for a manual swap, search honda-tech for the how-to on a manual swap, and there you go, your car will now be quick and have a great base to start with

I would save ur money and sell the car during the summer, continue to save ur money then by next summer you can buy another car (be it honda or whatever) and do whatever you want with it, you can slap ur aftermarket crap back on, but then u'll still have more $$ left over to do what you want whether it be swap or turbo or whatever...

you could probally make an ok custom turbo kit with the $....might run closer to 2000 though. you'd probally have more fun with a turbo auto than a stock manual, just my 2 cents

I would put about a grand into a savings account and keep the other 400 so you can do some fun **** this summer.

My buddy went away to college and he didn't set enough money aside. He's been broke since the 4th week of school.

Save the cash, rock the stock EG, get a degree, and then get something that comes fast.
