how i made a dual stage boost controller for $10 :)
too lazy to make a second post, you all just get a link

Nicely done!
I hope you realize how freakin' easy it is to activate an ECU output after a certain speed, too. DIY speed-dependent boost control anyone?
What size lines are on that solenoid? I assume it's a PCS or something of the sort? I'd like to try this with a Honda PCS, I have about 10 kicking around the garage. I'm also curious how well it holds up under boost pressure.

i dont know what size lines are on that solenoid, i had found another solenoid at the junkyard just before i found this one, when i was blowing through it and testing it with my battery to make sure it would do what i wanted, it felt very restrictive so i opted not to use it and search for another one, and then found this. im not sure what a PCS is, but make sure you can blow through it fairly easy, or it'll act as a boost controller itself!!
i have neptune so i cant mess with the ECU programming myself, but ill have my tuner do it for me hopefully. (jeff evans is the man)
thanks for the praise!!
also, it came off a MK III supra which are turbocharged, so it may have been designed to hold up to boost pressure, but im not sure if it was or not. from where it was located, id kinda guess it wasnt, so hopefully it doesnt explode and leave me with a huge boost spike

for the bonus points i will say
2002- kia sopheia
1971- ford mustang
1993- honda civic
EDIT - mid 90's jeep
do i get the prize?

close, very close
its a kia rio not sopheia
67 mustang
94 civic
and the jeep is a 79, but im surprised you even noticed it, i didnt even know it was in that picture.
good job

Just go onto ebay and look up solenoid valve. You can get one with 1/8" ports, normally closed. I'm using one ($12+shipping), and I'm hoping to make another setup that uses 2-3 (so 3 or 4-stage).
The only possible problem with car solenoids is that they are usually PWM (like a GM boost solenoid), aka not made for continuous use and can burn out.

This type of 2 stage controller will work but it will not be very accurate. Depending on load the boost will go up or down from your target boost. You really need a way to open and close the solenoid to sustain the correct boost while the engine is sweeping through the rpm range.
