correct me if im wrong but isnt all atf red? i mean isnt there pretty much no diff in color across all makes of it. unless its burnt ofcorse

We are talking about MTF not ATF.

 

wtf is mtf?

so besides strong nasty smell, theres no way to tell if it is Honda?

manual transmission fluid = mtf
automatic transmission fluid = atf

the name of the thread is what color is "ATF" sorry i assumed that he ment auto fluid

all tranny oils are red by default to distinguish them from motor oil.

 

 

Honda ATF is red... Honda MTF is a light yellow/gold color much like cooking oil found in your kitchen. Both Honda ATF and MTF fluids have a very strange and unique smell. Motor oil is typically darker than Honda MTF... like a dark gold color.

 

Does anybody actually use Honda MTF? When my TL has the Honda lube in it it shifts like crap, especially 3rd gear which often grinds and sometimes pops out of gear. When I use ACDelco Synchromesh Friction Modified, the transmission shifts like a hot knife through butter.
