valvetrain for 400whp/9500rpm street engine?
everytime ppl talk about valvetrain....they usually are either asking for low power or crazy power...but what about in the middle? i'm getting ready to start on my newest engine and need some advice on what valvetrain to go with. I'm going to be running some cams a little larger than ITR/CTR...and will be revving, on occasion, to 9500ish. Mostly just doing 300ish whp daily with revs upwards of 8500....and then on weekends/track at 400whp.
i haven't decided on cams yet...because i haven't fully decided on the turbo/manifold type i'm goign to be running....but i'll need the valvetrain either way
thanks

No need for valves, definately upgrade your valve springs, and possibly your retainers. I'm almost done my lsvtec project and plan on being around 400hp, but I will be redlining at 8500rpm. I would say just get a nice set of valve springs, and retainers, I'm using buddyclub

i would stick to stock valves, i had aftermarket in my last build and they ruined the whole build, but other factors were in play.
My new build goal is also 400whp I upgraded my springs and retainers, kept the stock valves and threw in ITR cams. Plan on going to 9k often

i just got all my stuff together and have been regularly spinning to 8,500 and tuned up to 9,500 (been there quite a few times) with supertech springs and reatiners.. Stock valves, recut valve seats. gsr cams
he took out all the little imperfections that built up over time on the seat. I always understood it as being just like resurfacing the head. I mean it was all torn apart anyway, why not clean it up?
