Not too keen on the K20's, but Im pretty sure there along the same lines as the difference between R and GSR motors.
I.E Pistons, cams, head flow, improved flow on header/exhaust system, etc.
Not sure why the question is asked, but if your thinking of a swap, go with the R motor.

Supposedly, the current -S has the same cams as the Type-R motor.
Things helping boost the ITR K20A are the higher compression and 4-2-1 header. I'd expect the ECU to be tuned a little more aggressively, too.

i believe the current S motors' cams are different p/n's from the R, but virtually identical otherwise.
my thoughts on hte swap, go with the k20a for hte "jdm poitns" whatever the expletive thats worth
for the saving in money, i think a k20a2 with type r tranny or even fd is a better idea

the guy filming in the second link sucks at filming, he can't hold still at all and doesnt know how to properly use the zoom. other than that, it looked like a close race in the second. in the first one, that hatch just whipps that porsche

The A3 internals are NOT stronger than the A2.
The Z1 cams are PRC cams, which means they are TypeR.
The K20A makes its extra 10 hp over the Z1 from a larger intake manifold, .5 higher compression, different exhaust manifold, freer flowing axle back exhaust, and a tune that is for 95 octane fuel with 300 more rpm redline.
