did all the ex's come with the vtech engine? theres a ex for sale by my block its going for 4500 sun roof and tinted windows (not that it matters) my brother said that he looked at it but dosnt think it was a v tech engine

 

All ex's come with vtec engines not just civic's, Accords too.

he's asking about a 2000 ex, so no old school stuff here.

unless the motor was swapped out, the EX that they are selling has a D16Y8, which is the newer d-series vtec motor.

'90-91 Civic EX had a non-VTEC D16A6 engine.

All '92-00 Civic EX models had a SOHC VTEC engine. '01-05 EX models had a SOHC VTEC-E engine. '06 EX models have an i-VTEC engine.

The only Civics sold in North America with DOHC engines from the factory are:

'94-97 Civic del Sol VTEC
'99-00 Civic Si 2dr
'02-05 Civic Si 3dr
'06+ Civic Si 2dr
'07+ Civic Si 4dr
