Default Shorty header+straight pipe?

Anyone have a setup like this??? I wanna look into getting a DC header (ceramic top half)...and run a 2.5" straight pipe all the way back to an ES Oval Muffler. I'll have the muffler shop custom weld o2 bungs in the piping for the o2 sensors. I figure if I do this I won't need ESMM...Only issue I foresee is needing a non-fouler for the secondary o2 sensor correct?

Please respond ONLY to the question at-hand...I don't need any "just get ESMM and a race header blah blah blah"....I have a good muffler shop that has done work on all 3 of my previous Hondas and they are flawless making custom mandrel bent piping....Basically with the header, piping, and muffler it'll STILL be less than a full race header cost-wise and probably out-perform it too

I'm not sure it will outperform a race header...a good race header uses longer primarys and such to pick up HP and torque across the board. It's the design of the header that makes it superior to the shorty.

But, a Defouler should do the trick on the secondary O2. The good thing about the shorty/testpipe is that you don't need to run the ESMMs and deal with the vibration at idle.

And as you said, might be cheaper too. But don't expect it to make more power.

yeah i was thinking about that a little more after i posted it...dont know why i would even think it would OUT-power....i really meant to say i expect gains close to a race header

don't get a shorty header...they are pretty much useless. The oem exhaust manifold is just as good as a shorty header. Get a test pipe, and run the defouler, u'll make the same power as with a shorty header/test pipe.

really? i would think with the shorty/straight pipe combo it'd be very close to the performance of a race header

They are certainly not worthless, but they won't make as much HP as a race header.

yeah i know it'll fall a little short performance-wise in comparison with a 1-pc. race header but i honestly don't think there'll be MUCH difference overall.....i'm thinking MAYBE a 3-HP peak difference tops....hmmmmm, welp this is the setup i'm aiming to run so i guess we'll see when all is said n' done.

the oem shorty is nearly identical in design to all aftermarket shorty headers....just made of a diff material. Take a look if u dont believe me

which is exactly one of the reasons to swap it out because the stocker is heavy as expletive compared to the ceramic piece......and i actually think the stock lower section with the cat is closer in diameter to aftermarket sets than the upper portion. the only downfaall is the catalytic converter

well saving weight is a different issue than hp...if you are just lookin for power then don't bother to replace the oem shorty. Thas all im saying. I agree the weight loss is nice if thats what ur goin for. But hey, if i had the money i'd go race header all the way!
