Default stock tach too slow?!

So I finally got through my break in period on my turbo kit and decided to open it up to see what kind of damage I can do on the road. First gear went through ok, then second gear the tach races up to 6k rpm on my GSR and then I BUMP off my rev limiter at a reading of 6k. What could be wrong? Is my limiter kicking in at 6k? or is my tach too slow for the turbo but my limiter is still kicking in at 8k while my tach is only reading 6k?

ok i just looked at the diagram, there is an RPM wire on the blue box that connects to the ICM wire on the ECU. I am guessing the ICM is for the rpm also.
