Default cam timing and dist timing question sohc

wats the point of having a cam gear on a sohcvtec? from wat i was told the dizzy is cam driven so isnt that actually adjusting the cam timing also with the ignition timing? just curious because my car's cam gear is adjusted 2 degrees advanced and i was wondering if i will have to adjust it by the cam gear or can i do it by the distributor? just curious and wondering because i just remembered this and tuning is being done tom morning

the dizzy adjusts your total ignition advance and retard.. the cam gear will adjust the cam timing.. aka when the intake and exhaust valves are opening and closing..
