1995 Accord V6 Manual Conversion

I copied this from my original post off v6p.net ( aka cowgodv6 )
steps taken :
purchased a 1987 Acura Legend LS Coupe feb 17th
towed to my mechanic same day
mechanic needed to finish off the other jobs he had so the work did not start till march 2nd.
First thing he did is pull out the Legend's axels, tranny, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch, bearing and examined them.
The pressure plate needed a cleanup and sanding and the flywheel was in toch notch shape as well, the clutch was finished ... the bearing was still top notch.
The axles are mint as well, I went out and purchased a OEM spec Clutch.
He worked on the accord, removed my automatic tranny, axles, suspension forks, bearings ... pulled it all out
did not open the tranny - even up to now ( not really worth it because I'm selling it damaged to buyer - it's up to them to find what the issue is )
he examined the documentation from OMEGA'S SWAP ( which is like a bible for this swap ) and decided to start the work
after some hard convincing. Not too many people are willing to perform this kinda work, without charging like 6000$$ +
I picked up the 94-97 pedals, clutch master, master cylinder with metal tube and hosing
two parts - one steel - 97-97 4 cylinder, and the other rubber - 90-93 accord rubber tube used
if 94-97 part could not be found - most people cut them from swaps instead of disassembling them
as well as a shifter boot at a local scrapper all in the mintest shape I could. The parts were all cleaned up and installed.
The tranny, flywheel and pressure plate were all cleaned up and sanded where needed and the attempts to mount it started.
it does not fit, modifications are needed -
he took the 5 speed tranny and a cardboard box, ripped off the side of the box and pressed it on the automatic on one side
then did the same on the other side of the cardboard for the automatic
4 out of the 6 bolts mated up perfectly - keep reading ( OMEGA'S stated the stationary axel holes for the intermiate shafts are blocked
- chunk of the block needed to be grinded out -
approx 4 inches in by 3 inches - you grind out a bolt in the process but a magic bolt appears behind the grinded area )
the tranny, flywheel, pressure plate and clutch fit perfectly after the grind. What a site,
The whole drivers side, looking up from having her on a lift almost looked like someone stole the tranny, there is SO MUCH ROOM.
Anyways, next was the mounts, this was the hardest part for my shop, since they did not have the right hardcore tools to make they're own mounts
they had to deal with what they had, and all mounts are 100% stable ( 4 were made ) , except for one - the front -
which I am getting custom made with 3/4 " metal and two 16mm bolts shaped like an L
then the shifter rods were next, cutting into the floorboards, cutting through the 2 layers of metal, percise cutting is not easy
however I brought it to the best in mtl.
the rods are too long from the Legend I have, it's a coupe, I guess it's a bit futher back.
All the rods were placed in a almost stock configuration, but the height was an issue as well.
A lot of time went into this as well, placing the rods is the most time consuming
After about 3 days of working on the rods and shafts it was done, the shifter boot was in the the Acura Teg Shifter boot was slide on
I got my first chance in the industrial park to test her out ...
OMG I needed 5 speed lessons, all over again ( I've only driven 5 speed for like 3 weeks in my life )
After a detailed crash course and stalling about 20 times in 4 hours I got the hand of her and started to push a little more and guys
ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS WOW !!!! It honestly feels like the car has easily 25% if not more like 30% more power and the throttle is so much more responsive.
I'm having to work more with my shifting, but I honestly state that I will be an easy 1.5 second faster on the 1/4 -
16.4 was my best time with burnt out tires and full weight

old engine bay pic ( much has changed since then )

loving it
I've had over 1 year of daily driving with it
no problems at all, in fact it pull so smooth that some honda technicians though it was stock
I'm spending a lot of time trying to develop interest and aftermarket support for the 5th gen V6. So far, unichip " may" make a chip, however it'll be vehicle specific and I'll be the pioneer for that. Headers are in the "process" stage of development, exhaust lines and custom cams are also in the "works" I just don't have enough time in each day to complete what I want to achive !!

Hey man, congratulations for doing this work to your car! I know a kid that has a V6 and is crazy to know how he could make his v6 a 5sp, now.... thanks to you, I can give him some good news.
I think your car looks great and you are representin for accord dawg..... nice!
Peace out!!!

a lot of hard work has gone into the swap
I have a few projects planned but I'm not sure If I'll get to them
I have blueprints of a ITB setup on the NSX 3 liter engine
I might go through with this project using Bike TB's
imagine that a D series civic gains 40whp with a ITB install
what will a V6 gain, with a port flow / exhaust valve and oversized TB's do ??
not enough time in each day

wow, I've always wondered how a 5th gen V6 5spd manual would feel.
on the swap
heard of the swap but never seen anything from someone who has completed it.
Gives hope to others with the V6. Hope you do get some aftermarket support started for the V6, that would be real nice to see. I wonder what kind of numbers you can achieve with that motor and some aftermarket support. Would be interesting to see.
Keep up the good work, the car looks good.

first ive ever seen of the swap -everything before was always hearsay
everyone rags on the C27...but i think its just because no one ever has really looked at it to see what it is capable of...who knows, maybe you will have a new beast -but probably not

Nice job, i remember reading the thread from the only other guy who had done it and thinkin it was kinda cool. Your car reminds me of one I saw on here a while back that had been restored from pretty bad shape (bodywise). Was that you, just out of curiosity?
no but my body is in bad shape now
needing a paintjob, soon soon
It's fun I beat a modified jetta mk4 ( 2002 + ) VR6 today on the streets
it was funny to see his face
