Default Couplers and t-bolt clamps...

putting together my first turbo build and now im looking for couplers and t-bolt clamps...
i need 2.5" couplers and a 3" coupler...

now my question is, i read that for 2.5" coulers, u should use 3" t-bolt clamps, and for 3" coulers, a 3.5" clamp, is this true?

i would have thought that a 2.5" coupler uses a 2.5" clamp

thanks for the help

Yes, you need a t-bolt that's slightly larger than the coupler. So yes a 3" t-bolt will work with a 2.5" coupler, but they also make t-bolts that are 2.75" etc. So leave yourself atleast 1/4" of room for fitment when it comes to t-bolts.

sometimes it depends on the thickness of the coupler. Some couplers are thin, and 2.5" clamps are fine, but with the thicker couplers 2.5" won't work. Summit sales t-bolt clamps in all kinds of different sizes.

ATP Turbo recommends going .25" more than the size of the coupler. So a 2.5" coupler needs a 2.75" T-bolt clamp. That is what I followed when I bought them all from ATP Turbo and it worked out great:

I ordered all my T-bolts and couplers from APT too. Excellent stuff at great prices, and shipping is always fast. They get big

hmm when i ordered mine from them, i specifically asked about this. They said no, with a 2.5" pipe you use a 2.5" no matter the coupler.... they fit perfectly fine tho

i think it depends on how thick your coupler is. silicone couplers are a bit thinner, so you can use the 2.5 tbolt clamps. i got all of mine off a yahoo retail site. they're located in portland. GREAT PRICING. cheapest i found. i'll try to find the site.

but i have some 2.5-2.81inch tbolts clamps i'll sell. they were too small for me. i think i have 16 of them? i'll check again tomorrow

I believe it. I really had to crank mine down and use a deep socket to keep tightening down the bolt so I bet a 2.5" would have worked no problem.

I also use 2.5 tbolts on 2.5" couplers. Perfect fit.
