** Need help buying a used Accord. Thanks
Thanks for the help. A friend of mine is looking @ buying a used Accord and I want to make sure she doesn't get ripped off and winds up with something she will be happy with for the next 4-5 years of her life. She's leaning toward the 94-95 style or 98+ style 4 door with an automatic most likely. What are the different trim levels and variations between them? I'm assuming EX is the nicest, but where does the SE come into play... as opposed to ______ ? Are there any specific things to look for in an Accord... any particular problem areas we should be concerned with? Last question is about what kind of mileage should we look at to get the most for her money? Thank you.

well...the 94-95 style will most likely have more than 100 k miles on them...and it's obviously a honda so there shouldn't be much trouble for the next 4-5 years...i believe the SE was brought about in the 96-97 models but don't quote me on that beccause i could be wrong...in the 94-95 (5th generation) 4 cyl. models there are 3 basic trims being the DX (lowest class), the LX (middle class) and the EX (highest class)...the EX's are the easiest to find because i think they made the most of these in that generation of accords...i believe they made an ex v6 in this year also but i'm not familiar with it and they are pretty rare...in my opinion the 5th generations are the nicest looking but that's just me also...some things to be cautious about are basically the tune ups and such and all that...and if she's looking for an automatic she should make sure that the car was not driven hard due to the weak transmission that the automatic is...for the 94-95 models the blue-book value is anywhere from $7,500 to $10,000 but you can generally find them for around $6,000...before purchasing the car i would also look up the vin number online and check out if the car has been in any wrecks that the seller is not telling you about...and be sure to ask the owner if you can take it to a certified honda dealer for inspection that you pay for (not him)...i don't know much about the 98+ style but i have a 94 and they are great!...can't go wrong with one...from what i've seen the 98+ gens are basically just heavier and newer...but not much else...good luck!

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate the heads up. I just want to help her find a car and I want to make sure she will be happy with it. I'd like for her to get an EX, but thats just me.
