how do you check the code for a CEL with obd2b car and a obd1 engine P72 ecu car 99civic ex.

i'm pretty sure its the same. bridge the connector in the passenger side kick panel and read the number of times the CEL blinks.

thats the way i had to do mine, it will blink a number of times slow, thats the first digit, then it will blink fast and that is the second number. then call honda and they should tell you the code

Locate this connector......


Then jump it with something like this.....


Count the number of blinks on your check engine light, then do a search on HT to find out what the codes mean.
