whats this noise???
I got a B16 in my CRX. when the car is parked, there is a clunking noise whenever I move the steering wheel to the right, it also makes the same noise whenever I go over dips in the road. we cant figure it out. any suggestions...
check your axles, look at the boots, sometimes they rip and all sorts of crap get in there. If you turn right and it makes noise your left ones bad, if you turn left and it makes noises the right ones bad.
you say it happens when the car is parked.... so without hearing it in person I'm gonna guess that its a ball joint...
jack the car up and slap it around up front and see if anything is sloppy/loose...

Mine did the same thing, but the reason why was b/c of my rack and pinion was fawked. When I replaced it and put it back in it was all fine then, but look at the boots on it or just take it to a shop and let them tell you.
my del sol was doing that right after i bought it. the kid that owened it be fore put the stock sus. back on it and he didn't tighten all the bolts. every thing was loose and had to be cranked down. get a 17mm socket and a good long handeled ratchet and try to tighten every thing to be safe. might need a 14mm also.
if its parked, it cant be an axle...it might just be a lowering spring making noise on the purch. Sometimes if the rubber gromet tears away...you hear the metal on meral adjustment.
Jack up you car, and grab the wheel on top and push it in and out. If you have play then its your ball joints. Just get it up and take a look around, if you cant find anything on your own...take it to a shop. Loosing $400 to replace some balljoints, and whatever else is wrong is a lot better than watching your wheel rolling next to you when your doing 70 on the freeway.

i could be the tie end on the front end of the car, but i can almost gurantee you that its not the axles, when the axles are going out they will be clanking when you take a u turn. i have to replace the tie ends on my 90 si.
Scrollo is right about axles, it makes noise only when you turn around with the steering turned at the max.
If you lifted up the car and your passager is moving from left to right on the Z axis, then you found it dude. What Superhatch said anyway, I believe he's right.

Hey man,
I had the same problem with my CRX. I jacked the car up on jackstands, and then checked the play in the steering. My friend got under the car, and checked for loose stuff...we tighened up the loose bolt, and tried it again. Same stupid clunking noise. A week later, we just replaced the rack and pinion. Saved a grip of cash doing it myself too. It was only 150 bucks from sofast.com, and I had the part in my hands in 3 days. Good luck with the clunking man... My whole boots were torn (which meant tons of junk inside the joints and stuff).

Steering rack bushings maybe? That's what my girlfirend's Civic has wrong with it. When you turn the wheel, the rack moves over a little bit because the bushings are shot.
Also check the strut rod bushings in the front crossmember!!!!!
tie rod end(s), rack end(s), and/or upper or lower ball joints, any bushings, anything left loose in the front end- could be anything- you're gonna have to check it all.
