Default Steering Column Noise.

I have a 96 civic EX Coupe. I was wondering if someone can help me figure out whats cuasing the noise in my steering column when I turn it left and right really fast. The noise is like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...lated
or this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbYErejLjrE&NR=1

It makes the noise at the moment when I turn the wheel the other way.. Example... turning wheel right, the suddenly turn left.. at the moment of that sudden turn from right to left and vice versa it would make the clunk noise.

I have replace the inner and outer tie rods, both axles, passenger wheel bearing, both lower tie rods, and then got an alignment and tires balance last week and it still makes the noise. The mechanic said that my rack n pinion was fine.

A couple of weeks I read a thread from someone else saying that it can be a busted bearing in the rack and pinion. Can this be problem? How hard or easy is it to install a rebuilt rack pinion on my civic?

Thanks in advance.

Not trying to jack your thread but it reminded me of a problem im having and i thought we could kill two birds with one stone instead of me making a whole nother thread.

my steering wheel squeaks like a old wooden creaky door when i turn right to left or vise versa . Its coming from inside the car.

I was just going to wait till i put on a new wheel but id kinda like it gone asap.

anyone else got sqeaky wheel syndrome , any how-to's on fixing?

I took a good look of where the problem is coming from and I found it and its solved. You only need a 10mm wrench and your two hands.

1st. Remove the steering joint cover. (that cone looking thing in the picture in the far right bottom).
2nd. Tighten the #9 bolts. If the bolt is stripped, buy a new one w/ the washer. M bolt was stripped so I coulndn't tighten it all the way. This solved my noise in the steering column (actually it was in the tilt column). No more noise when moving my steering wheel fast left and right.

Goodluck to all.
