Default k motors

i saw in the new superstreet magazine about hasport put a k24 motor in a 5gen accord..... now i dont really know much about the k24s but i know my dad has one in his 04 CRV did they come in anything else? what is the difference between a k24 and k24a or k24a2? and can you swap k20 parts onto one of the other k motors like intake manifolds and such. i am just now realizing about these k motors and if anyone knows anwhere i can get more info on them let me know thanks

Watch threads in All Motor Forum.

A favourite thing for people to do is take a TSX bottom end and put a K20 Type R head on it, together with a K Pro computer.

I can't imagine what kind of header you'd put in a 5 Gen, though. I also don't know who makes mounts for this kind of conversion.

If you're looking for kseries info, go to k20a.org, lots of info there.

If you want info on k24a4 (7th gen accord engine and all the available mods that have been tried out) go to http://www.gen7accord.com/ The 7th gen accord threads also have a wealth of info at http://www.accordtuner.com

A recent favorite is the k20a or a2 into old civic hatches, hasport has the mounts I believe.

Basically, in all of the research I have done, most parts are interswappable throughout all k-series motors (for RSX-S, TSX, and Accord engines (k20a2,k24a2,k24a4)

Also, 03akkrd5spd is the unofficial "7th gen pioneer", give him a PM, he's done a lot of internal engine work on the accord engine.

hasport has a kit for a K24 into a 5th gen. however, it requires extensive modifcation and even some custom fabrication...i think all in all i costs about 10K to put a K24 into a 5th gen- and thats not even the cost for the motor....

im not even sure if the kit is available yet for purchase -the unvieled the concept at a HIN or a SEMA or something....and at the time the motor was in the car, but it wasnt running.

Yea, Hasport's been giving us the runaround. With the bore spacing on the F, H and K being the same they'd do better to make some kind of head swap kit. The difficulties of doing the full swap (custom header and axles alone would probably cost more than an H22 longblock) almost make it not worth it. All that's really wanted is the head anyway.

hasport isnt in the business of engine mechanics -they are in the business of mounts.

Blah...well then I don't see this swap kit coming out anytime soon. It would be cheaper for someone to make a kit that could let us do a head swap...we'd have to flip the K head 180 degrees, and all we'd need would be a custom crank->cam pulley, a custom header and the necessary electronics to get it to work. Hell, they could create a conversion kit to allow the use of regular ODBI ECUs and make some kind of piggyback system to control the i-VTEC. It wouldn't be difficult at all.

that's pretty funny. not difficult at all? sounds complicated to me. why don't you get right on that and let us know how it works out?

Well I mean obviously doing it from scratch in your garage would be tough, but it's nothing out of the reach of a decent machinist and programmer. I'm sure there was a time when someone said "man all youd have to do is get a chip to access the ECU and write some kind of software that allows you to change the stock fuel maps" and people were laughing as well. *shrugs*

If you wanted, although I don't know have the guy's #, there is a guy at my local car meets who put a k20aX into a 90ish civic hatchback, but dearly wanted to sell it because he hated it. He was about ready to give me the damn thing lol.

From what I recall, he didn't specify that it was a big pain to get it into engine bay.
