Default LED headlight? Possible?

I just purchased a pair of projector head lights for my 2000 Accord. (smilar to this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW)

I am too cheap to spend $300 on an HID kit. at the same time, I want the lights to seem "cooler/brighter". I was wondering if I could just replace my current headlight bulb with LED bulbs? are there such LEDs for this kind of purposes? I researched for hours and found nothing. Please help. THanks

those headlights you just purchased really do suck. i speak from experience. i know a guy that lives down the road from me that got himself a pair and he got rid of it in less than 2 months.

It's true, projectors do suck. They dont "project"... You wont be able to see anything. It's like driving at night with two mini flashlights taped to the hood of your car. I had some too because I had a cracked headlight and thought it was a "cheap"/ "cool" fix... it was just a waste of money.

# of LEDs required would be rather large not to mention that the the light output would be hard to properly focus and controll in stock sized housings

sorry guy, you're out of luck, you would need a bazillion really expensive LEDs to change your headlight to be bright enough from stock to LEDs, HID's would be cheaper and probably would consume less power. trust me, i work custom leds a bit and leds aren't that bright, they seem bright but only at close distances. for example, i took out a mini bulb from a flash light, replaced it with like 8 15k mcd super bright leds, and the one light bulb put a brighter output in the surrounding area and you could see better further away, whereas the leds provided a "brighter" close distance white light. in short, dont feel bad that you thought you could change a headlight to leds, because thats only for RC cars.

just to correct something. Projector do not suck, fake/generic/knockoff projector headlight sucks, they are not focused nor they are calibrated to normal use.

most OEM projectors use HID to proven power for the light, led is too weak nor it's efficient enough for the same purpose. it's like using two hundred candle instead of one spot light

I dunno about LED's not working...I was thinking about getting a few of them and rigging something up with the 9006 base to get better lighting. But that's too much work and money for not that much more light...

And yeah, for the most part Ebay projectors suck. They're made with super low tolerances and no regard for safety or performance. You'd do better by getting some OEM HID or H7 projectors.

eh, give it time some company will make one. A small LED is weak, just think of one a size of a baseball insted of a size of a pen top.

ill say give it less then 2 years it will come.

the projectors in that generic headlight suck. like iam7head mentioned, the real OEM HID projectors are the way to go. i'm trying to get my hands on a set of Evo VIII projectors from my friend since he got into some front end damage and his headlight lenses are cracked. good thing the HID's still work on em.

LED headlight technology is still being developed. There is currently nothing available to us that we would be able to use for our cars. Prototype cars have had LED headlights for quite some time now, but that doesn't mean that they currently work well enough to replace HIDs. Based on what I've read, I'd expect to begin seeing LED headlights on certain luxury cars no sooner than 2007 or 2008 (calendar year, not model year).

I just saw in import tuner an MR2 with LED headlights. No real point to this but hey I saw it, you may want to check it out.
