converting manual windows/locks to power
hey im just wondering if its possible to convert my 1997 honda civic sedan from manual windows and door locks to power windows/locks and if thats an easy conversion that i could do myself or would it just b a bad idea? could i just take the parts out of an junkyard car that has power windows/locks and put it in or is it more complicated than that?
yea i wuz hoping it wuz that easy that id just hafta take everything out of the other doors and put them in mine because i want to put a keyless entry system on my car
but wut do i actually need outta the doors? am i gonna need the inside door panels too cuz they'll have the switches and **** on them and how does it connect to the power and wut not?

With some cars it's simple, as the power window actuators (the motors and their specialized tracks) bolt in through the same holes as on manual window models. With other cars it's a bit trickier as the power window actuators mount in different places than the manual versions.
If so, bring a large sheet of paper to the junkyard and using pencil shading, trace over where the holes are for power windows before drilling them into your doors. Triple check measurements before cutting into metal.
If you don't have to do this, it's just a matter of swapping parts. If you do, it's a bit of extra work but nothing too scary.
Remember to disconnect your battery before doing any work involvong electrics in oyur car so you won't blow fuses or melt fuseable links
