I drive alot at night and I was wondering what is the best headlight for the job? I dont care about blinding the oncoming cars because there is few and far between here. I want something that will light up the road and I cant out drive them. And tell me how hard the install was. I have those super blue/white bulbs there like 160/190 and the light just scatters.

Forget the stock looking bulbs... if you want something bright, then you will need to go with HID's You can get a kit for like $300, i know thats a lot, but trust me, its worth it.

that and getting some Fog lights will help as well.

get an hid kit...20 minute install...22 minutes if u dont know what ur doing...they go from $300 to whatever

if u want the most out of your HID's, u gonna have to retrofut some projectors to your housings. if not, your gonna have tons of ugly glare. not to mention it won't illuminate the road very well.

well said. you can drop $300 for a kit but putting HID in a housing made for halogen will glare everywhere and will suck ***, you will lose more light than you can produce. you might as well use stock halogen bulbs. if you want bright you have to pay high, your best option and only option is HID RETRO. other wise use sylvania silverstars or OEM bulbs. those are the only halogen bulbs that put out the highest lumens(light output).

For a shitty drop in kit, yes, 20 minutes. For a good retrofit like you should be doing, you're looking at closer to a day.

not tryin to hijack, but where would u get a GOOD kit from thats not just drop in? i wouldnt wanna spend 300 to get glare

Ebay. BMW bi-xenons with the shrouds, bulbs, ballasts, ignitors and projectors go for 300-350 on there pretty often.

Would a JDM headlight housing help on stock bulbs? Somebody that bought them said that they did. And how hard is it to do a retrofit?

a jdm headlight housing will not help. only way i can think it might help is the jdm housing are made of plastics instead of glass, so if the plastic is clear and new enough it might help. but otherthan that, it was made the same spec i believe.

retrofitting is somewhat hard if you never tried it before. but its not hard to learn, a good amount to learn and know before you do one but its not that hard. just a bit on the time consuming and creativity

PIAA headlight bulbs tend to get VERY hot in the housing and blow out. And 80$ a pair is not what i would like to spend every 6 months.

FYI: JDM headlights are designed for driving on the left side of the road. OEM headlights have an angled cut-off that is designed to shine light further out onto the shoulder of the road to illuminate signs & pedestrians. If you use them on US roads, the angled cut-off will be shinning your headlights right into oncomming traffic all the time...

if you want to stay with the stock housing. PIAA or Silverstars are the way to go. I've had my set of PIAA Xtreme bulbs for well over a year now with no problems. (I know I've jinxed myself now)
You can also install a headlight relay harness to get rid of the voltage loss of the civic's wiring harness. It does make a difference and it only costs you a few wires and a couple relays.

An HID retrofit is by far the best way to go. But not simple nor cheap.
