wat are the codes for the 96-00 civics? I thought the EK was the name for all 96-00 civics not just hatchbacks

When someone says EK they are often referring to all 96-00 Civics, even though EK's are referring to the Japanese chasis codes. Over here it is EJ and EM.
The same goes for eg's, people usually mean a 92-95 Civic not the literal meaning of a Japanese EG.

You guys are on different pages. He's talking about what people normally refer to it as, and you're talking about what the real name is.

EG is used to describe a 92-95 Civic hatchback, no matter what model it is.
EK is used to describe a 96-00 Civic hatcback, once again, no matter what model it happens to be.

I and a number of people on HT refer to all 96-00 as EKs. When you buy something for a 96-00 car most sites refer to it as an EK and then you specify whether or not it's a hatch, coupe, or sedan. I'm just throwin out that info, I imagine it works the same way with the EGs as well.

Ya the vx/cx is lighter but unless u plan on doin hardcore dragracing it dosnt really matter that much. Ur probably not gona notice a difference under daily driving especially if ur swaping the engine. The vx/cx are lighter only because they have no power brakes, power steering, ac, and a crapload of other stuff that comes in an ex/si. In my opinion its gona suck nothaving power brakes or steering.
