what timming do I use

Default what timming do I use

my friend has a d15 eg cx block with a d16y8 head what base timing do I use
I know the block and crank markings are for 16 degrees, but a y8 is suspossed to be 12 degrees what do I go with

I have it at 16 right now but the idle is too low

bump, it still feels wierd.. the idle is low and sometimes wants to turn off but the timing is advanced, do i need to advance it more? The head swap has new gaskets, spark plugs, wires, and msd coil pack and cap what can the problem be?
